The Shady Oak is a special place for special people. Newcomers to our area, graduate and residence students, singles or couples are welcome. No pets, please.

Large great room includes living room, dining and spacious furnished kitchen. All rooms and suites are fully furnished and equipped. Residence includes four fully furnished rooms and suites with private baths, cable TV, and DSL wireless. Most rooms have queen-size beds.

All rooms are non-smoking. Smoking is permitted in fresh air common areas only.

Weekly common area housekeeping is provided. Individual room cleaning can be arranged.

Gourmet meals can be provided by our local caterers. Intimate candlelight dinners can also be arranged.

Enjoy the many activities unique to our area as a preservationist’s alternative: bicycling, canoeing, bird watching and fishing. Visit the vast marsh of Payne’s Prairie State Park, an 18,000-acre bird and wild life sanctuary just a mile away, or visit Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings’ historic homestead in the nearby town of Cross Creek.

Stained Glass Workshops with Frank James continue in our ground floor studio and gift shop.
